stephen died 24th august he had a rare syndrome called alphers which is a dna disorder he was perfectly fine till 2 weeks before his 1st birthday he started fitting then when he got to the a&e they only gave him a 10% chance of surviving he was eventually taken to the intensive care unit, after he was there for 2 days he was transfered to a ward, there they tried a few medications to control the fits,(if only it was that simple). when the doctrs thought they had the fits under control after 3 weeks he was allowed home,only to be rushed back into a&e again 6 days later this time they couldnt stop the fitting, stephen had to put in a drug induced coma doctors then decieded he needed to be sent to the L.G.I where the brain doctors are based,(this was to be our home for the next 10 weeks)stephen couldnt be moved for 2 days as every time you touched him his fitting got worse,eventully he was sent to intensive care at LGI he was there for 10 days (all we wanted him to do was wake up and smile).he was then tranferred to the brain ward where he had so many scans and tests,stephen had another fit and the nurses couldnt slow it down so he was back to intensive care again as the drug they had given him had effects that slowed down breathing,that is when we got told it was looking like alphers we were told to look at months with stephen rather than years it was heartbreaking we couldnt stop crying. the next day me and stephens dad jonny said we still had him so we had to get on with looking after him and our other son john-paul.when stephen was well enough to go back on the ward all the nurses knew we wanted to get him home as we wanted do do things with him as a family we did get him home 2 weeks later he was on a cocktail of drugs he couldnt suck or eat so he had to have a gastric tube inserted in his belly he didnt have no control of himself he was like a new born, he use to be awake only 2 hours a day he had no immune system he always had water infections which meant he was swolling up alot we had alot of help at home from his doctors and other experianced workers,then on the 24th aug he woke up i gave him his medicine and milk he was very cheasty, i gave him cuddles as we watched jeremy kyle then i but him back on his bed we had in the sitting room he had a little moan i kissed him and went to wash his syringes when i got a strange feeling i knew it wasnt jp as i could hear him up stairs so i cheacked on Stephen, i couldnt hear his cheast like before so i thought he just needed to cough, he had stopped breathing, he had gone to the angels the ambulance came, at hospital they said he died at home WE MISS YOU SO MUCH AND LOVE YOU ALWAYS LOVE MAMMY &DADDY &JOHN-PAUL,JOHN-PAUL STILL KISSES YOUR PICTURE EVERY NIGHT AND MISSES YOU HE ALWAYS TALKS ABOUT YOU sleep tight baby love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx play with your two other brother or sister that i lost both at 8 weeks in 2001 & 2002
